The Opel, not my friend who loves Hondas.
When are we getting this thing? I think it's one of the most adorable cars built anywhere in the world, and I think it would sell well here in the vein of the Fiat 500 and smart fortwo.
Am I going to have to suffer until 2040 before I get my hands on one? Come on GM!

That hat is wearing is just ruining it for me. Some kind of 21st century landau roof? O_o
Seems to have good proportions for a hatch, but in my opinion the front is too Mazda Smiley Face for my taste.
Patrick George reports GM's CEO as saying they'd badge this as...a Buick. I guess they have nowhere else to put it. Oh, wait! They could make this a Pontiac! EXCEPT NOT BECAUSE THEY KILLED IT ARE YOU SORRY NOW GM?

The Adam is a nice little car for as you say going up against the Smart FourTwo and the Fiat 500. But it's slightly bigger sister the Corsa would be a better option as it's more Ford Fiesta sized and available as the Fiesta in three and five door hatch (granted the three door isn't available in the U.S.) with even a sporty option to take on the Fiesta ST.
GM are really missing a trick with this car.

Hmm...I've been using the, "I see them often around here," way of thinking again.

The fact that the performance above earned it the title as the best-performing minicar for the small overlap collision is somewhat disconcerting.

Had no idea about the Corsa, but now I'm extremely interested.

The Corsa is the in between of the Adam and Astra. Equivalent to Ford Ka, Fiesta then Focus. Although the Corsa doesn't get much love it is a cheap practical small car that new young drivers tend to add nasty performance mods to but Vauxhall/Opel do their own in house performance version in a VXR.
From the Vauxhall configurator website:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The New Corsa VXR – Vauxhall's ultra-powerful hot-hatch – is set to raise the bar for small, fast hatchbacks when it appears in UK showrooms in May 2015
With a fierce acceleration of 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 143mph, New Corsa VXR delivers 205PS and up to 280Nm from its powerful 1.6-litre turbocharged engine.

That's because they're both built like shit. On the other hand Mini is doing very well in America.
